World from a High Energy Physicist’s Viewpoint: From Quarks to Cosmos

Abstract

Physics, as one of the empirical sciences has the announced goal of understanding how the Universe works from the smallest scales we have been able to probe, to the largest scales we have seen. High energy physics is part of physics relevant to understanding the "early Universe" when our Universe was very young and very hot, right after the Big Bang. On the other hand, high energy physics is needed to understand very small scales, very large momenta, as is indicated by Heisenberg's uncertainty relation. In this talk we discuss the current picture of the Universe according to our state-of-art physical theories.
