Abstract

Last year in 4th of July, the world community witnessed the announcement of the so-called Higgs particle by the LHC collaborations. In this talk after a very brief review of the standard model of the elementary particles, I will introduce the Higgs mechanism in a non-technical way.I will summarize what is the signal that is interpreted as the Higgs discovery. I will then enumerate the open questions in this field.
